Is There Such a Thing as a Gentler, Softer Credit Card offer?

Credit card companies generate astronomical revenues off of FEES - late fees, over the limit fees, $29 here, $39 there - it adds up fast!
In response to harsh criticism to these ever increasing fees, credit card companies are starting to introduce a round of “new and improved” card offerings - BUT BEWARE and be sure to do your homework before you decide if these offers work for you!

Citibank is the first to introduce such a new offer. Named the “Simplicity” Card, late payment fees are no more, but here’s the clencher…if you’re a LATE PAYER, your interest rate could soar into the 29% range. This can trigger a dominoe effect - you pay late, your interest rate increases, you incur a negative mark on your credit report which could in turn cause an increase to the interest rates on your other outstanding debts.

Here’s what you have to weight out (if you’re prone to a late payment or two): do the $39 late fees add up to to less or more than the hundreds of dollars you’ll potentially be paying should your interest rate suddenly increase?
